What is Composite Granite Sink?

A composite granite sink is a special kind of sink manufactured with granite stone dust and acrylic resins molded into sink form. Composite features the quartz dust and acrylic resins are engaged with each other. Composite granite sinks are also often referred to simple as 'granite sinks' since it is very rare to find a pure granite sink. The composite material offers many advantages over pure granite, which has eventually led to almost all manufacturers switching over to it.

Are Quartz Sinks Different From Granite Sinks?

A lot of times, people tend to confuse quartz and granite composite sinks.

This is because the two share a number of similar properties, and are often employed interchangeably.

In fact, granite itself has a significant percentage of quartz in it.

However, it’s important to know that for every pro that granite offers, quartz enhances it even more. For instance, quartz is denser than the porous granite and is thus more durable.

Advantages Of Granite Composite Sink

  • Durable

While most of the normal sinks are not durable, granite sinks are liable to be durable. You can experience the most solid work performance with granite sinks. The other important features like heat, scratch, stains, and odor resistant are all present in the granite ones. So, you get flexible variations while working in the sink.

  • Beautiful

Elegance is the word that comes when you bring a granite sink in your home. Your beautiful kitchen is just one step away before installing the granite sink.

Disadvantages Of Granite Composite Sink

  • Sturdy

As the sinks are too sturdy, the fragile glassware often tends to break. The problem arises when the glassware breaks down while you clean the fragile dishes in the sink.

  • Pricey

A quality granite sink is more costly than the other sinks. But you also get more features and benefits with it, so the price is worth it!

Undermount vs Top-mount: Which One Is The Best?

Granite sinks are manufactured in two types – top mount and undermount. Undermount granite sinks need support from below and are different from stainless steel undermount sinks. Underneath support is required because of the weight of stone. So, you can install a granite sink giving support from the structural design of a kitchen or base cabinet.

Top mount granite sinks don’t need support from underneath. Installation is easier with top mount sinks since you can simply "drop in" in the sink on the right cabinet and make the final adjustments from there.

Things To Consider Before Buying A Granite Sink

You already know what granite sinks are made of, how they feel, and what they offer you in terms of features and advantages from our top 6 reviews.

In recent days, granite sinks have become very popular due to their durability and flexibility.

Let’s look at the crucial factors to consider while buying a granite sink for your kitchen.

  • Design

Granite sinks come in different shape, size, and design. Make sure to choose one which matches with your kitchen design. If your kitchen décor goes well with the sink design, you've found a good match!

So, you must have a kitchen sink with higher heat resistant. It will bring the awesome experience in your kitchen life and cooking - without the worry.

  • Hygienic

Granite composite sinks are generally a good material to keep clean. A non-hygienic sink can cause the buildup of bacteria over time and cause you to fall sick. Certain sinks are designed specifically to make it easier to clean the often neglected corners.

  • Noise-Free

Granite sinks can often be noisy since their surfaces are harder than other sinks. To combat this, good manufacturers will often engineer the design of sinks to dampen the sound. Check the reviews or features to see whether the sink you want to buy claims to have noise reduction.

  • Durable

Durability is on of the most common desired feature to have in a sink. When a sink serves you for a long period of time, it becomes worthy of your money. Luckily, granite composite is among the most durable kitchen sink materials.

Final Words

Granite composite sinks are undoubtedly one of the most durable sinks available today. They not only add to the beautiful interior of your kitchen, but also faithfully reward the money you invest in them.

However, it’s still important to know what you’re buying, and how trustworthy your purchase is. With the overcrowded market in every product, it gets hard to make the right decision. We hope our review made it easier for you to navigate your options.

    >> I do like this heavier sink. it really looks sharp compared to some others. I’ve been in total shopping mode, lately, and I’m a fan of a lot of different looks.

  3. Granite is gorgeous. I just installed a stainless steel sink in our utility room, but I’m thinking about this as an option in our kitchen down the road. Thanks. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

  4. Hi George, Can you give me your opinion of Franke PKG160ONY Peak UM Granite Ontx DBL 36 CAB composite sink please? Thank You, karen

    • Sure Karen! First of all, your taste is pretty good. Franke PKG160ONY is a beautiful kitchen sink that goes well with any interior decor. There are around six shades available, so it won’t be hard to get a favourite one according to your preference.

Oh, also you would have to maintain it well, clean it regularly. It’s made of granite, so this would need your extra attention. But for the gorgeous looks, I think, it’s okay.

It’s a dual bowl undermount sink that matches with 36 inches cabinet size. Overall it’s a great choice for regular washing and nice functionality! Good Luck!

  5. Hello, Your article mentioned two Blanco sinks. We have a Blanco sink purchased in 2011 and unfortunately we just discovered it cracked leading water. We can’t tell you why but what we can say is Blanco was amazing and has offered to replace.

Here is my question. Ours is a equal double bowl diamond in Biscotti. Would you recommend this sink and have you found the dark brown color to lose its luster.

    • Hey, it’s nice to know your good experience but as you’ve said you experienced cracked leading water, it’s not the issue that the Blanco manufacturer is guilty for. You can repair the sink yourself or call a repair man to fix it.

Since you have equal Blanco BL440186 Diamond Equal Double Bowl, Biscuit, it’s one of the best Blanco sinks. Dark brown color doesn’t fade away unless you use too much harsh dishwasher or scratch the sink with scratch or rubbing pad.

    • Hi Sandy.

Apron front style sinks are a fantastic choice when you want to aesthetic win over with traditional or country style farmhouse decor.

While for the under-mount and drop in matter, both styles are excellent in their own ways. if you are looking for saving countertop space, easy countertop clean ups, high-end looks, and better resale values then under-mount is your ideal fit. For needs such as all-countertop-material compatibility, easier installation, reasonable pricing, and simpler sink cleaning, the drop-in style seems a better choice.

  6. Thanks for the reviews, we bought a White Kraus granite composite sink though and it is really horrible to stay looking clean. it doesn’t technically stain, but does take lots of care to keep it looking nice. I would lean towards the gray, black or brown. IMO
